Summary of the curriculum vitae
Katarzyna Wielga-Skolimowska was born in Warsaw in 1976. In 2000 she completed her master’s programme in theatre studies at the Warsaw Theater Academy, after which she worked as a programme consultant for theatre, dance and interdisciplinary projects at the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Warsaw. From 2006 to 2009 she worked in Tel Aviv, Israel as the curator and coordinator of the Polish Year 2008-2009. As the authorised representative of the director for artistic affairs at the Narodowy lnstytut Audiowizualny (National Audiovisual Institute) in Warsaw, she was later entrusted with preparing and coordinating the cultural programme “Art for Social Change” to mark Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. In 2013 she was appointed director of the Polish Institute in Berlin and its branch in Leipzig. In 2018 Wielga-Skolimowska became the advisor to the head of the Culture Department of the Goethe-Institut in Munich and was later sent to Saudi Arabia to serve as the director of the newly established Goethe-Institut in Riad. Katarzyna Wielga-Skolimowska has gained extensive curatorial experience from an array of international projects she has organised in France, Spain, Ukraine, Tanzania and other countries. On 1 January 2023, Katarzyna Wielga-Skolimowska became the artistic director of the German Federal Cultural Foundation.
