East-West dialogue in the Lessing commemorative year 2004

With their close connection to Gotthold Ephraim Lessing's life and works, Kamenz (Brandenburg), Halberstadt (Saxony-Anhalt) and Wolfenbüttel (Lower Saxony) hosted an exchange programme in commemoration of Lessing's 275th anniversary, in which artists and interested citizens from the three cities participated. The series of bilateral talks provided community representatives for cultural affairs, development and financing, city revitalisation and development, marketing, tourism and scientific advancement a platform to share ideas and experience, as well as plan and carry out future cooperative projects. The results, summarised in a final paper, outlined the basis for future cooperation. Three photo exhibitions featuring city scenes toured each Lessing partner city.
