X Pe d/t itions

The performance collective “theatrale subversion” and the projekttheater Dresden examined to what extent specific social groups, which usually wield little influence in society, have the capability to provoke political change. In their project “X Pe d/t itions“, they conducted research on the social (fringe) groups and subcultures in Dresden to gain new perspectives on socially volatile issues. They have spoken with disgruntled citizens, hackers, war veterans, Erasmus students and football fans to learn more about their values, cultural codices, idiolects and other characteristics. Based on these cultural scientific expeditions, the team wrote up status reports with their newly gained perspectives, which has been translated into contemporary forms of political theatre. By integrating the study groups into the project, the team hoped to create new artistic hybrids which incorporate elements of documentary theatre, flashmobs, interactive performances, room installations, party games, direct actions, happenings and films.
