Wunder Opus 5

The Berlin-based group Oper Dynamo West teamed up with LOFFT in Leipzig to develop projects related to the city quarters around the theatre and use these as sources for inspiration for experimental contemporary music theatre productions. Within two years, the project “Wonder Opus 5” presented west Leipzig as a yet unrecognised centre of New Music. The coordinators planned five musical productions with text and music centred on the daily lives of people living in that area. Residents of the city quarter collaborated with a professional composer to develop and stage four small, locally specific world premieres in the first year. During construction of its new premises in west Leipzig, LOFFT also began to build a new music theatre division which culminated with a large finale presented on the new LOFFT stage.
