Two Places – One Piece

The Theater Oberhausen and the Radu Stanca National Theatre in Sibiu first contacted each other while researching for a theatre project based on immigration. The result is an intensive joint project that addresses what it would mean to a young person of African descent from Oberhausen to meet a German-speaking youngster from Sibiu, and what ideas concerning one's homeland and sense of belonging would result. The director/performer Bernhard Mikeska will go to Sibiu in search of new impressions that he will later incorporate into a theatre performance in Oberhausen. The German writer Lothar Trolle and the Romanian Lia Bugnar have been commissioned to write plays about their experiences while visiting the other's city. The works will be performed at both theatres.
