The guts company and the Societaetstheater Dresden are launching a project which proposes using methods of dance to explore the tension between identity-building values and xenophobia. The project comprises three productions which shall examine and implement possible strategies for surmounting the distance between the familiar and the foreign. The organisers also intend to create an interactive space of encounter which allows the audience to experience the familiar and foreign as relational – and thus dynamic – categories, demonstrating that one would be inconceivable without the other.

The tandem between the young, independent dance company and Dresden’s oldest civic theatre also aims to strengthen the local independent scene while encouraging encounter with non-local artists.
