Lutz Förster
Theatre project
Lutz Förster (* 1953 in Solingen) danced with Pina Bausch for many years, worked together with Robert Wilson on productions at the Hamburg Staatsoper and the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Today he is a professor of Dance Studies at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen and the spokesman for the "Dance Education Conference", organized by the Dance Plan Germany.
In this tribute to Förster, Jérôme Bel, one of the leading figures of contemporary dance, examines the complex interrelationship between the role and the person, and between art and life on the stage. Bel is particularly interested in Förster's student years of the 1970s when he studied at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen and worked together with the icons of modern dance, such as Susanne Linke at the Tanztheater Bremen and Pina Bausch in Wuppertal.
