Long Live International Solidarity!

The Berlin-based theatre collective Futur II Konjunktiv and the Theater Trier are jointly investigating the political emotions of fear and solidarity as a motivation for political action over a period of two seasons.

In Karl Marx’s city of birth, the participants follow the motto “Long Live International Solidarity” and explore the potential of political emotions in various theatrical formats – from interventions in public space to performances. The project is planning to organise a “soliparty”, an urban obstacle course of wishful thinking, a simulation game of economic solidarity, and a festival of Trier solidarity. A stage production will highlight the international brigades in Rojava (Northern Syria) and how they are perceived in Germany. A second production will explore class solidarity in Europe today.

The project aims to build bridges between theatre, science, social movements and civil society in Trier and beyond. Theatre should function as a joint scenic-participative thinking process for artists, experts and audience members alike, thereby enabling art to transform reality and examine it accordingly.
