Germany’s “cultural beacons”

The German Federal Cultural Foundation has supported a select group of outstanding cultural institutions and event series – so-called “cultural beacons” – since 2004, providing them planning security for several years at a time. After Katarzyna Wielga-Skolimowska took the reigns as the Foundation’s artistic director in 2023, the Executive Board of the Federal Cultural Foundation held extensive meetings with representatives from all the “cultural beacons” to discuss in detail their present challenges and prospective artistic development. These institutions continue to be influential and progressive role models in their respective artistic fields, and thus exemplify the richness of Germany’s cultural scene.
