Exit 89
Theatre production at the Archa Theatre in Prague. Funded through Zipp – German-Czech Cultural Projects / Thematic focus “68/89 – Art.Contemporary.History.”
A rundown autobahn rest area somewhere between Berlin and Brno in the Czech Republic. A long night in August - six people, six stories, all of which are tied to the year 1968. And a fateful dog. A night of quarrelling, love, heavy drinking and an accident. In the middle of August. In the middle of a snowstorm.
This is "Exit 89". One night at a rest area on the autobahn. Nela and Christian argue, Rudi and Saša get drunk. Karel and Punt'a get lost on the autobahn. Jirina makes sandwiches and two police officers are faced with a major pile-up and are baffled. A snowstorm in August. Dubcek, covered in dust, lies in the back of a lorry. Forty carnations strewn on the autobahn. Five dead and a dog, the only survivor of this story.
