Sibylle Bergemann

Photography – retrospectives with an accompanying publication

This was the first monographic exhibition of the works of photographer Sibylle Bergemann. With 150 pieces on display, the exhibition offered a comprehensive view of the diversity of her works which have guaranteed the artist a permanent place in the history of German photography. Many of her pictures reflect a critical view of the reality of the GDR. However, she was better known for her fashion photography and for being one of the first artists who worked with Polaroids. The exhibition was shown at the Berlin Academy of the Arts and then at the Braunschweig Museum of Photography, and later went on tour to Moscow, Milan, Sweden and the US. Sibylle Bergemann's works were also published in a comprehensive monograph.
