Namibia - Germany: A Divided History
January 2004 will see the centenary of the outbreak of the Herero and Nama uprising against German colonial rule in Namibia, the former "German Southwest Africa". Eventually, the uprising was brutally put down by German colonial troops. This exhibition will document the historic and present-day links between German and Namibian culture. Between colonialism, tourism and development aid, this will provide a complex and often contradictory picture of mutual relations between the two countries.
