Flip-book films

Flip-books allow one to experience movie magic close-up - the images begin to move as one flips through the pages of the book. The Kunsthalle Düsseldorf will show how a variety of artists - from Jean Luc Godard to Keith Haring - deal with this popular, age-old form of cinema. The exhibition will also include historic displays and modern optical experiments, the effects of which are based on the rapid sequence of individual images.
