Grand opening of the new headquarters
Culminating two years of construction, the new headquarters of the Federal Cultural Foundation at Franckeplatz 2 were officially opened on 30 October 2012 with an address by Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel. State Minister for Cultural Affairs and chairman of the Foundation’s board of trustees, Bernd Neumann, and the Minister President of Saxony Anhalt, Dr. Reiner Haseloff, participated in the opening ceremony and also held speeches to mark the occasion.

A ground-breaking ceremony on 12 July 2010 at 11 am marked the start of construction on the grounds of the Franckesche Stiftungen, Franckeplatz 2, 06110 Halle (construction site).
The invited guest speakers included:
Minister of State Bernd Neumann, Federal Commissioner for Cultural and Media Affairs,
Parliamentary State Secretary Jan Mücke, Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs,
State Secretary Dr. Valentin Gramlich, Saxony-Anhalt State Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs, and
Dagmar Szabados, mayor of Halle.
